Position Overview:
Develop and maintain comprehensive programs and policies which ensure a safe work environment for all employees, control losses, manage risks, and assure compliance with safety and occupational health regulations, codes and best practices.
About the Role:
Develop and recommend policy to ensure Environmental & Occupational Health and Safety (E&OH&S) compliance, minimize risks, and control losses. May design, implement and direct property loss prevention programs. Evaluate environmental and occupational health and safety regulations, codes and/or standards and develop and programs to ensure compliance.
Implement programs for managers, supervisors, and employees regarding loss prevention and control, disaster recovery planning, environmental and occupational health, and safety compliance.
Prepare insurance reports, permit applications, and other insurance loss/claim submittals. Monitor existing emergency plans and response procedures. May act as liaison with insurance carriers, loss control staff, and claims personnel to manage the company's risks and losses.
Design loss prevention and claim reporting training programs. May maintain loss prevention conformance files, standards library, and related documentation.
Serve as a management resource for environmental and occupational health and safety. May provide leadership to safety committees. Consult with management regarding corrective actions to alleviate unsafe conditions or procedures.
Coordinate on-site inspection by regulatory/government agencies, insurance carriers, etc. Coordinate with Health Services to provide occupational illness/injury data to management and regulatory agencies. Work with Environmental Engineers and Health Services on compliance overlap.
Pursue professional development through active participation in industrial, technical and professional organizations.
Provide technical direction to nurses, hazardous-waste technicians, emergency response teams, and safety team members.
About You:
Experience working within a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, team-based, multi-tasking, and multi-cultural business environment.
Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential issues.
Proven discretionary judgment with the ability to resolve both routine and non-routine issues with urgency.
Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
Proven ability to build relationships with, and influence all levels within an organization.
Builds working relationships with external contractors and vendors.
