What you'll be doing... The Principal Engineer - Tech Project Management role is responsible for several areas of support for various learning applications and tools: product management, supplier relations, systems administration and governance as well as evaluation and measurement of learning applications and tools. You will work closely with department heads, team members and external partners to ensure the smooth operation of technology platforms and tools used in learning initiatives and programs.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Product Management Act as primary point of contact for L&D teams seeking support for new use cases through the use of technology Perform initial needs analysis and assists requestor with development of business case Determine if business case is sufficient to warrant new development work or if existing technology offerings will support business needs Negotiate in collaboration with requestor and GL&D leadership on development prioritization, timeline and resource commitment Research creative/innovations to solving the most impactful applications' user/business needs Manags request backlog and transitions items as appropriate to development and implementation stages Calibrate direction from executive stakeholders to shape product vision and strategy Maintain engagement with a group of superusers regularly probing to understand the landscape of the business and how existing applications are meeting their needs. Technology Supplier Onboarding and Maintenance Assess potential technology suppliers fitness and usability for learning applications at Verizon Manage the supplier onboarding process in the role of business owner including partnering with sourcing, legal, risk, finance, HRIS, global enablement factory and other relevant approvers as well as GL&D leadership.
Maintain all relevant documentation on contracts, statements of work, use cases, user access profiles and integrations for all assigned applications in appropriate systems of record Ensure all required governance processes are followed and maintained including renewals and off-boarding Manage integration processes including documenting business cases, negotiating approvals and overseeing timelines for items such as single sign-on (SSO), device management database (DMD), and user profile data systems (LDAP) Supports research and analysis for renewal decisions and consulting with end-users to assist in gaining consensus on final recommendations Systems Administration & Governance Establish and document Governance processes for newly acquired technologies (Google Sites, Chat GPT, etc.) based on guidance from GTS partners and GL&D Leadership Monitor performance of applications and escalate user issues as necessary to application owner or supplier for resolution Ensure user community has access to educational resources to become proficient with new tools and stay up to date with new features and functions as they are made available Cultivate strong connections with user communities, forming core groups of superusers and enthusiasts to further best possible uses of available applications and technical tools Monitor usage of available applications and tools to ensure appropriate use and governance as well as appropriateness of continued investment in tools Apply governance and decision making to administer user access profiles as well as special permissions for all assigned applications and ADOM groups to ensure appropriate access and maintaining documentation for all permissions granted Ensure all documentation and systems settings are maintained to a very high level of accuracy following approved business processes and governance rules Consult on the author/user best practices to achieve desired experience Drive operational changes required to streamline support of learning systems Evaluate process and system effectiveness and continuously improving our solutions Creates technical support and business process documentation/job aids for team functions. Recommend changes to technology portfolio based on feedback from user community and observations while administrating tools and applications Evaluation & Measurement Produce evaluation and measurement of technology adoption and impacts to the business as requested Oversees execution and communication of formal and informal effectiveness and measurement plans for all technology offerings owned by new technology and media production teams (does not include LMS, Album, or Learning Portal 2.0) Ensures data is gathered while pilots are ongoing Maintains contacts with data owners for KPIs within L&D and channel teams Partners with L&D reporting teams on formal ROI studies What we're looking for...

You'll need to have: Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience. 4 years technology project management experience Product development experience Knowledge of UX/UI Design principles Strong interpersonal skills Excellent decision-making skills to identify, prioritize and articulate the highest impact initiatives Innovative thinker who is able to understand the latest trends in learning technologies Even better if you have one or more of the following: A degree.
Understanding of agile and waterfall project management methods. Two or more years working within a learning and development organization One or more years of training design and/or facilitation experience Experience in User Acceptance Testing
