Job Description
Who are we looking for?
The Network Engineer - supports, maintains and develops the network, enhancing and making improvements where appropriate. Proactively monitoring and managing the performance of critical equipment and services, including network equipment and VM environments, identifying, recommending and applying solutions to resource issues.
Keeping in mind the security issues of the organization, are always be prepared to design and implement security countermeasures, when network vulnerabilities arise.
The Network Engineer is responsible for installing routers, Switches, and Firewalls as well as any other hardware and software upgrading that are essential for communication networks to function properly. The Network Engineer plans and executes the layout of cables and other required components for network systems. They maintain and troubleshoot network systems, resolves and rectifies if any issues occur.
The Network Engineer will manage existing networks and monitor the traffic. They are required to also work in coordination with the software and hardware teams to get the necessary network equipment in place. The Network Engineer will work in collaboration with network engineers, systems administrators and other professionals in network setup and configuration. They have to assess the existing network technologies to increase the performance, security & efficiency. They are also required also examine and evaluate the network performance and will make changes wherever required.
Qualifications
Essential
A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a Network Engineer
Practical experience in the administration and support of a multi-site network or in a similar technical support capacity
Knowledge/Experience in Cisco Campus and Data Centre Switching (Catalyst 6800, 9300/9200, 3850, 2900, Nexus9k), Routing (ASR1k, ISR4k, 3900, 2900) and Wireless (WLC, WAPs) technologies
Knowledge/Experience in Cisco Security solutions such as Cisco NGFW and IDS/IPS (ASA and Firepower Threat Defense), Cisco WSA (Web Security) for Internet Access Filtering, Secure Endpoint (AMP for Endpoints), Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
Knowledge/Experience in VoIP (Voice Over IP) platforms and technologies, Cisco Unified Comms (CUCM, CUC, IM&P, Exchange Messaging Integration), ISDN PRI and SIP trunks and CUBE/SBC gateways
Working knowledge/experience in LAN/WAN technologies and solid understanding of networking across an MPLS/IPVPN environment
Experience working with MS DNS, DHCP, IIS, or NPS technologies
Experience in change management and ITIL based ticketing systems like Service Desk
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with systematic approach in identifying faults and pursuing paths to resolution
Self-starter, able to work as part of a team and independently work without supervision
Capable of managing complex technical issues, multi-task between priorities and provide communication updates
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-cultural, customer-oriented environment
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Minimum level of certification achieved - Cisco CCNP - Routing & Switching, Security or Voice
Desirable
BA/BS in a computer or engineering related field or related certification
Previous experience in a Contact Centre/BPO or Telecommunications industry is desirable
Knowledge and understanding of virtualization technologies particularly VMware is desirable
WAN acceleration such as Riverbed Steelhead/SteelFusion experience
Threat hunting and "pentesting" experience
Asterisk or Linux based PABXs experience
Ongoing commitment to extending skills through self-study and training
