Job Summary:
Responsible for gross to net payroll processing. Support and coach direct team members to support timely and accurate pay. Recommend process improvements to leadership team.
Key Job Responsibilities:
• Inputs data from time sheets, production records, or individual timecards to computerized payroll system.
• Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and makes any necessary adjustments
• Perform comparison report after transmission of payroll, comparing current vs. prior payroll in an effort to audit discrepancies prior to the pay date
• Answer telephone promptly and courteously
• Consistently verify all necessary approvals for any pay requests
• Responsible for obtaining the necessary approvals, as necessary
• Research and resolve questions from managers and employees relative to the processing of payroll information such as PTO, direct deposit, pay cards, retro pay calculations, tax questions, etc.
• Assist in the printing, sorting and distributing checks for on and off cycle runs
• Perform end of year processing and reconciliation including payment summaries.
• Act as a company representative whenever there are government audits related to actual payments of contributions.
• Perform validation of gross to net payroll results and end to end processing of company's payroll.
• Monitors Payroll department employees and their work. Provide coaching, mentoring and making sure employees have the tools necessary to perform their jobs.
• Identify areas for improvement and participate in strategic planning for department.
• Participate in system implementation for payroll and timekeeping.
• Research and interpret a variety of complex technical information in response to inquiries.
• Performance coaching, scorecards, development plans must be accurate and executed in a timely manner.
• Responsible for respective department's overall performance and for motivating team to exceed department goals and objectives.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Competencies and Experiences:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Timekeeping Software, and HCM systems
• Two years related experience and one to three years supervisory experience in a similar function required.
• Experience in performing and validating UATs, systems conversation, data migration.
• Experience in filing government-required wage and tax statements strongly recommended.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge and understanding of Payroll and HR legislation and processes e.g. interpretation of awards, and legislation, tax and superannuation.
• Knowledge of audits, income tax forms, etc.
• Exhibits sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills with knowledge of payroll systems, internal controls, and management.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity to ensure associate confidence and protection of the integrity of payroll operations and information.
• Ability to work under pressure.
