GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Occupational Health Nurse who is a Registered Nurse is primarily responsible for providing occupational health services in the company. He/she is expected to have undergone training for Occupational Nursing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify and assess risks that may arise from health hazards in the
workplace;
2. Give advice on the planning and organization of work, including the design of the workplace, and the choice, maintenance and condition of work equipment;
3. Participate in the development of programs for the improvement of work practices as well as for the testing and evaluation of health aspects of new equipment;
4. Give advice on occupational health, safety and hygiene; ergonomics; and individual and collective protective equipment;
5. Collaborate with other departments in providing information, training and education in the fields of occupational health, hygiene and ergonomics;
6. Organize first aid and emergency treatment mechanisms;
7. Participate in the analysis of occupational accidents and diseases;
8. Handle all medical-related inquiries, including the evaluation and validation of filed sick leaves in order to recommend the approval or disapproval thereof;
9. Dispense appropriate medicine/s based on employee's health complaint;
10. Conduct inventory of medicines and medical supplies and prepare monthly report of the status of these supplies; and
11. Accomplish the Annual Medical Report for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
1. Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Nursing;
2. Registered Nurse and with active license;
3. Satisfactorily completed the 50-hour Basic Training for Occupational Nursing provided by any institution accredited by the DOLE; and
4. At least two years of full-time experience in the field of OSH in a similar industry.
Personal
1. Amenable to work on shifting schedules, including night shift; and
2. Excellent project management, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, training, and oral and written English communication skills.
