Layout and design mechanical parts and systems in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with an understanding of how designs are applied, how they interact with other assemblies, and how they will be manufactured.
Responsibilities:
Support development of mechanical hardware from initial concepts, sizing analysis, component selection, procurement of prototype sample, performance/environment qualification testing.
Responsible for the concept, design and documentation of manufacturing assembly, parts list, tooling, test tools, and equipment required to effect manufacturing processes and production rate requirements.
Design Electronic packaging systems with expertise that spans the full cycle of mechanical disciplines and is applied from architectural concept development through operations.
Develops and supplies technical information of low to medium complexity such as 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to communicate design intent to other groups as required.
Documents and helps to present technical information during design reviews, normally in the form of CAD model presentations and manipulations for viewing and discussion.
Prepares prototype work by developing 3D models and 2D detailed drawings, ordering manufactured and purchased materials.
Supports multiple small projects and/or parts of a project concurrently.
Creates and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) from start to the point of design release for production.
Qualifications
BS, or MS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of full Product Development
Working knowledge of commercial CAD software such as Alibre, Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
Experienced in metal and plastic design, with a background in 3D printing is an advantage
Experienced in outsourcing of parts locally and globally.
Reporting directly to R&D Project Manager
