Job purpose
The Physical Security and Crisis Management department requires a highly skilled professional, with proficiency in crisis management programing and response, as well as managing physical security advisory. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to interface and collaborate with senior management and leaders within IT, HR, Communications, Physical and Cyber Security, to establish direction and alignment, as well as execute assignments. This position will require a comfort level in the execution of risk management, compliance, event, and project reporting. The successful candidate will have an operational scope for our Asia Region (Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore).
This position supports the operations of Sun Life's Crisis Management and Business Continuity Management program, providing guidance and support to Sun Life Business Groups to help ensure preparedness for responding to crisis events. The successful candidate will be responsible to execute our vision of safety, security, risk, and governance on behalf of Physical Security and Crisis Management for the Asia Region. This position will maintain strong partnerships with both internal and external business partners, as well as contribute to other geographical areas in which Sun Life operates. In collaboration with their colleagues, this position will be a highly effective partner in ensuring program effectiveness and enhancements.
Major accountabilities
Provide guidance and support in delivery, governance and continuous improvement of Crisis Management program as part of the broader Business Continuity Management program. Perform crisis management training, scenario exercise development and facilitation for business partners within the region. 45%
Provide support to CMTs during crisis events, contribute to processes and tactical execution for building security and incident response in tandem with our business continuity, corporate real estate and office management partners. 15%
Provide input and support for reporting on Crisis Management and Security programs for businesses in region. 10%
Execute threat and risk assessments, security surveys, partner consulting, risk management plans and other related compliance tasks. Work with internal and external regional partners to ensure business driven program elements are effectively managed 10%
Manage enhanced personnel protection measures in region, such as travel risk management; consultation for senior leader protective measures; event security management; as well as general health, safety and emergency preparedness. Collaborate with internal and external regional partners to ensure the TRA program is effectively managed 10%
Maintain networking to stay apprised of industry developments and trends to achieve the stated goals and objectives. 10%
Specialized knowledge

5 years of progressive program/project management experience
Ability to effectively navigate complex organizations and interact appropriately with all management levels
Effective communication skills both written and verbal, as this position will be expected to communicate at all levels with precision and clarity

Robust problem solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and exceeding our client expectations

Works in tandem with individual leaders and teams within Physical Security and Crisis Management to execute program priorities
Contributes to budgetary matters with respect to the programs listed above.
Education and experience
University degree in business continuity, emergency management, security management, risk management, or comparable professional education/training in a relevant field.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience with business continuity management and crisis management responsibilities.
Professional designation required in business continuity through DRI, BCI or other organization.
Experience within a corporate or government business continuity department for a similar organization of comparable size and complexity to Sun Life.
Proficient with communicating and managing change, as well as continuous improvement strategies within contract management through similar organizations
Professional designation recommended in security management (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Certified Information Services Security Professional, or Certified Security Professional) is beneficial.
Communication scope
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business leaders to promote program priorities, communicate value, and ensure that the quality of services provided meet objectives
Works with internal mid-level and senior management on the execution of program priorities, as well as training requirements.
Works with external compliance, security and law enforcement agencies on audits, investigations, and process improvement activities.
