What you will learn and contribute to
Based in the Philippines , the Legal Counsel is responsible for performing and ensuring adequate legal and compliance services to the Company throughout Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia ("SEA") as applicable, working with other sub-functions of APJ and/or global legal function providing subject matter expert legal services to the businesses.
The Legal Counsel should be focused on forward-looking and strategic support of management to ensure realization of business objectives in SEA and managing legal and compliance risks within those countries.
The Legal Counsel reports to the Head of Legal & Compliance, SEA.

As part of our team, you will:
Assume ownership and accountability for overall legal and deal support for allocated SEA transactions, projects and matters, including drafting, contract structuring, negotiating and working in collaboration with other subject matter experts in the business groups and other legal functions to coordinate support across the SEA subregion.
Be a point of contact for various Sales teams in the SEA Subregion. It is expected that your support will be focussed on your home and near geographies, but if required, you will be available to provide support in other parts of APJ.
Manage and resolve customers contracts and RFP/Tender issues with the respective customers, including by dispute management and working with contract management functions.
Keep abreast of the impact of evolving legal and compliance regulations and other obligations and highlight the same in real time and contribute to the business planning and risk management/ mitigation processes.
Become familiar and work with underlying technology and commercial frameworks and issues that underpin transactions, projects and matters, in order to apply them practically in your day-to-day work.
Your skills and experience
You have:
6+ years of relevant experience within multinational companies or a recognized law firm.
Qualification to practice law in the Philippines, or alternatively, in another jurisdiction such as the UK, EU, Australia or Singapore.
Strong knowledge of the relevant legal framework mixed with excellent legal interpretation skills and exercise of judgment.
Ability to identify, assess and summarize legal, regulatory, commercial and operational risks.
Exceptional communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
Native level Tagalog language ability, both orally and in writing, is a plus.
Experience in advising on and drafting commercial contracts, managing related stakeholders, and negotiations with customers
Excellent legal skills and knowledge of contract and commercial law
Proven track record in stakeholder management, with ability to interact and integrate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
Independent and self-motivated, but within a cross-cultural, remote working environment which encourages teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
Demonstrates resilience and ability to adapt to change in dynamic environments.
Proactively seeks out learning and development opportunities to develop self and team.
Ability to travel if needed, though it will be limited
Background in the telecom industry is not mandatory but could be considered as a plus.
