Job Description
The Supervisor roles and responsibilities oversees a team and execute customs compliance procedures within the scope and SLA of GM GBS Philippines to ensure that General Motors operates in conformity with various international custom and trade rules and regulations. This includes ensuring US Customs Value Reconciliation work product is correctly and timely executed based on the set standard and methodologies, follows adequate compliance requirements and internal controls, and serves as a repository of expertise in their functional area. Specific duties related to this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Review the work product of Senior Analyst(s)/Analyst(s) and track workload outputs
Providing feedback to Senior Analyst(s)/Analyst(s) on their work product as well as guiding them through any issues;
Delivering the assessments of Senior Analyst(s)/Analyst(s) capabilities to the appropriate Leadership Team Members;
Drive valuable projects that will eliminate non-value adding activities
Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks
Leading Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)
Developing deep expertise in the area being supported; includes willingness to work with US Customs counterparts and contacts to enhance knowledge as well as study of GM Policies & Procedures and other external sources.
In addition, below are the Supervisor responsibilities:
Responsible for operationally executing and supporting GM US Customs Value Recon methodologies
Provide timely and accurate update on the workload as part of Status Reporting including tracking and monitoring of the team's overall progress to each task and process.
Assist the team with their reconciliation inquiries and support all processes.
Produce schedules, reports, analysis, and other work-product as required.
They also must comply with overall requirements for a Supervisor as follows:
Ensures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirements;
Interacts with internal/external related parties
Has strong control focus - brings any issues (accounting or control related) forward immediately;
Can present to Senior Leadership and consolidating information in a clear and understandable matter;
Technical Knowledge Requirements:
Excellent knowledge on title 19 - Customs duties (US Code of Federal Regulation) - additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable;
Systems aptitude is a requirement for this position with knowledge of various GM Systems used in US Customs Value Reconciliation mainly TMSII and Cognos and other sources knowledge necessary for the role - employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality.
Proficient in Microsoft office tools, computer skills/technology driven that will help adapt and navigate on various GM Systems and Customs related tools.
Non-Technical Skills & Competencies:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify very complex problems, review related information, develop and analyze options, and recommend solutions
Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as demonstrated strong interpersonal skills able to communicate with all levels including working with international associates where English is a second language.
Highly skilled in prioritizing assignments and/or projects with restricted time constraint.
Positive attitude, self-starter and ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment creating an environment of openness, trust and respect.
