The SpiderLabs Junior Associate role is a special role in SpiderLabs which caters to On-the-Job Trainees. These trainees may be undergraduates or fresh graduates who wish to train and expose themselves in the Information Security industry.
The Junior Associate will be trained and task to do mainly automated scanning and some validation. The Junior Associate may also be asked to help more senior testers with higher tiered test by performing the automated scanning part of the test. This prepares the Junior Associate to be able to do more advance testing later on.
The Junior Associate must also develop client communication skills as they may be asked to do some client engagement as needed during delivery of their work. Client engagements can include email communications and some client calls as well.
The Junior Associate will be viable for absorption as a regular employee based on his/her performance during the course of the training.
Scanning and Validation
The Junior Associate will be tasked mainly with automated scanning. He/she is expected to be able to perform vulnerability scanning mainly using the Trustwave proprietary scanners as well as other scanners to compliment. The Junior Associate should specialize in the use of these scanners and be able to modify or optimize it as needed during each engagement.
The Junior Associate may also be asked to validate the findings from the scanner. Thus he/she should also be able to review and process the results from these scanners and validate its findings in order to create good quality reports. It is important for the Junior Associate to learn which is reportable based on the scope of the test as well as the testing methodology.
Client Calls
A Junior Associate may be asked to join client calls for a pentest engagement to discuss some details of the scan if needed. The Junior Associate must develop client communication skills in order to better participate in these discussions.
The Junior Associate must always be accompanied by at least a Senior Associate during these client discussions.
Discussions outside of the assigned pentest engagement, such as custom/special requests, pricing, methodology or other consultations must be escalated to the Managing Consultant or to the Practice Lead.
Adhoc Tasks
The Junior Associate may be asked to do perform adhoc tasks as well. This tasks may include retesting of findings, modification of reports and others.

We prefer college-educated applicants, but at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required for employment.
