CGI Philippines is looking for an OS Linux Administrator.
As a member of the Infrastructure Shared Services Center, the OS Linux Administrator will represent his/her department towards the Business Units and project teams and will assure a determining role in the management, support, maintenance, implementation, administration, and lifecycle management of Linux platforms.
He/she will be positioned as a level 3 in the organization, using his/her expertise for ultimate level of escalation in case of incidents and for the contribution in the qualification of new solutions, assisting in the deployment. The role is broadly split between providing day-to-day operational support for existing infrastructure services and users of those services, and project-based work leading to the development and deployment of new infrastructure services.
This person must have deep knowledge in RHEL Linux and (in option) HPUX technologies and must be able to lead, operate and continuously improve the environments distributed across 600+ remote locations throughout EUROPE, Asia, US, Latam and Canada.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
1. Maintain under operational conditions the current Linux platforms and the new platforms in respect of the Support processes
2. Build, deploy and administer/manage the current and future platforms on premise or in Cloud
3. Operational support on:
- Troubleshooting, incidents and problem management
- Reporting and communication.
4. Assist new implementations of all System Infrastructure components such as
- Physical and virtual servers
- On Premise and in Cloud
- Middleware components (backup, scheduling, monitoring, etc.)
- Security
5. Pro-active in ensuring stability, response time, operational consistency and life cycle over the Linux operating systems
6. Optimize the Infrastructure in terms of Performance and Automation
7. Ensure appropriate documentation, including procedures for level 2 and level 3 support.
8. Contribute to search and qualification to new solutions
9. Provide monthly reports on activity, quality and performance
Technical Abilities
Installation, administration, and troubleshooting in the following Linux areas:
- Managing services and startup
- Provisioning, Troubleshoot operating systems (physical or virtual)
- Configuring network
- Managing RPM packets
- Performance analysis (on a physical server or virtual server platform)
- Managing disk volumes in a SAN environment using dm-multipath and LVM
- Tuning system & kernel
- Managing users and security
- PAM, SELinux
- Advanced Shell scripting (bash, awk, sed, perl)
- Automation
- Management of system services: printing, FTP, NFS, syslog, SNMP, etc.
- Virtualization
- Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure)
- Monitoring security alerts and bug reports from the editor and planning for patching of operating systems
- Management of HP-UX operating systems
- Support Storage SAN solutions
- Security skills
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
1. RHCSA certified (RHCE ideally)
2. 3-7 years experience in Infrastructure, with 3-5 years specifically on Linux operating systems
3. Self motivated, eager to learn in the IT profession
4. Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department
5. Customer service oriented
6. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. English speaking mandatory, (French reading would be appreciated)
7. Ability to analyze and synthesize situations and understand the business constraints
8. Willing to do some traveling.
