Description:
- Escalating Information technology issues to the Information technology manager where necessary
- Responsible for managing backups
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues
- Undertaking small- to medium-sized Information technology projects as instructed by the Information technology manager
- Providing desktop and server support
- Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops
- Installing authorized software to laptops and desktops
- Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to desktops and laptops and kept up to date
- Antivirus installation to all desktops and laptops
- Fault finding to laptops and desktops
- Reporting faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops, and laptops
- Patching of network and phones
- Making of Cat 5e / Cat6e network cables were necessary
- Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained (asset inventory)
- Fault finding to core servers
- Creating purchase requisitions for Information technology hardware/software
- Ensuring licensing for all software purchased is recorded and maintained
Other
- Preparing documents, meeting materials and correspondence
- Performing basic administrative support tasks, as required, to meet specific operational objectives
- Performing miscellaneous job-related tasks as assigned by the Information technology manager
- Working extra hours to meet deadlines, as required and where reasonable
- Providing assistance as required to the Information technology manager
- Providing assistance and support to colleagues in IT-related matters
- Ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is provided to all internal and external customers
Requirements:
- practice required with Windows desktop operating systems
o knowledge of TCP/IP and troubleshooting Internet connectivity
o practice with routers and firewalls
o practice with Terminal Services
o knowledge of relationship between switches, hubs, patch panels and connecting nodes to a network
o knowledge of DNS services
o Working Knowledge of network devices
o Working Knowledge of Wireless Technologies
- Credentials and practice:
o Engineer with two to four years' practice or a degree
o Minimum 2 years practice - Cisco Switching, VLAN, Routing, Firewalling Support
o Minimum 2 years practice - Server Hardware Technologies (CPU/RAID/SCSI) Support
o Minimum 2 years practice - Data Backup and Recovery Support, Corporate Antivirus Support, VPN Connectivity Support
o Minimum 2 years practice - Windows OS, Linux, GitLab, Docker, SVN, Virtualization
o The following certifications are preferred but not required: MCITP, MCP, CCNA, A+, Network+, Server +
o Solid dependable engineer and follows directions
