HOTEL ENGINEERING HEAD
 
Role:
 
The Hotel Engineering Head oversees all engineering and maintenance operations within a hotel or resort. This includes managing building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), ensuring safety and compliance with regulations, leading the engineering team, and ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for guests and staff. The role blends technical expertise with strong leadership and operational management.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Operations:
Ensure the proper functioning of all hotel facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Oversee routine and emergency maintenance to minimize guest disruptions.
Team Management:
Lead and manage the engineering team, including technicians and maintenance staff.
Provide training, mentorship, and performance management for team members.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all hotel systems comply with local safety codes, health regulations, and environmental standards.
Implement and monitor safety procedures, emergency protocols, and risk management strategies.
Budget & Cost Management:
Manage the engineering department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Oversee procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring quality and budget adherence.
Project Management:
Lead renovation, upgrade, and repair projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Collaborate with other hotel departments to coordinate and execute facility improvements.
Energy Management & Sustainability:
Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability practices.
Monitor and improve the hotel's energy efficiency and environmental impact.
Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with third-party contractors and vendors for specialized services.
Ensure that outsourced maintenance or repair work meets the hotel's quality and safety standard.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.) or related field.
Certifications in facilities management or hospitality are a plus.
Experience:
5-7 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
Experience with hotel-specific systems (e.g., room controls, guest amenities) is beneficial.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
Familiarity with energy management, sustainability practices, and compliance regulations in hospitality.
Management Skills:
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and project management.
Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar certification.
LEED Certification or experience with sustainability and green building practices.
HVAC or other relevant technical certifications.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in dealing with hotel staff and guests.
Ability to manage crises, maintain a calm demeanor under pressure, and solve problems quickly.
