Job Purpose
The position will be mainly responsible for providing the complete and essential FP&A support across the group of companies of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines). Its clients are the SLOCPI, SLGFI, SLAMCI, SLFPI, Trust - as well as all the various functions within these businesses.
This support entails providing its clients proper analysis and recommendations for the business to make appropriate decisions to drive growth. This should be backed up with timely and accurate data - as part of the role's management reporting responsibilities.
The role will also oversee the complete end to end finance functions within SLAMCI. This includes Treasury, Financial Accounting, Financial Control, and FP&A processes.
As Treasurer of SLAMCI - it provides full Finance support to the President and functional heads within SLAMCI, as well as the Board Directors of SLAMCI and the SLP Funds
Major Accountabilities
The main duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Provide business support to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) and to the Presidents of SLOCPI, SLAMCI, SLGFI, and Trust, as well as the various Functional Heads (PLT) - business support entails (but is not limited to) management reporting, business and financial analysis, project management and analysis, etc.
Partner with Corporate Planning and Strategy in providing the appropriate FP&A support and perspective to all monthly and seasonal activities (Operating Plan, Strategic Plan, Annual Planning with PLT, Strategic Plan with Directors, Board Meetings etc.)
Partner with Business Development and Project Management teams to provide operational business support from a finance perspective for projects and initiatives across the various entities and departments.
Provide end to end financial analysis and support for all investments/prospective investments - from incubation to launch.
Manage all expense lines across entities to align with business growth, and ensure compliance to company guidelines. This entails day to day monitoring, working with the various units on their initiatives, and ensuring proper monitoring are in place. It also involves providing business units with the proper recommendations and advice on managing their expenses and budgets according to expense policies and appropriate for the company.
Main finance partner for SLAMCI and the SLP Funds entity who will ensure proper and timely support from all finance functions (Treasury, Financial Accounting, Financial Control, and FP&A) are provided to SLAMCI. It entails day to day problem resolution, process improvement, regulatory compliance and business partnering for SLAMCI, the SLP Funds. In this role - the ff would be expected:
Management reporting as member of the MANCOM and other committees for strategizing and setting directions for the companies. Reports to the Board of Directors and stockholders and attends the various committee meetings such as Audit, Risks, Investment and other Committees
Coordinates with all the operating, support and administrative departments of the companies to comply with all the financial accounting and regulatory requirements and other demands of the business. Ensures that internal controls are in place within the company. Coordinates with all the departments concerned and internal auditors in addressing all the audit issues affecting the business units.
Regulatory Compliance
Knowledge & Abilities
Experience in leading a team in financial planning, analysis and reporting preferably in the financial services industry with adequate knowledge in asset management and mutual
fund business.
Has adequate knowledge and exposure in financial reporting both for internal management and external reporting
Preferably with a background in Canadian GAAP reporting
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
Advanced MS Excel and MS Power Point skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work under limited supervision and meet deadlines
Has a good grasp of internal operating controls
Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Commerce or Accountancy, Certified Public Accountant is a must, MBA would be advantageous
Experience
With at least 10 - 15 years related experience in financial reporting, corporate business planning, performance measurement and analysis with 5 years in a managerial capacity.
