Job Description
Perform/oversee General Ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Identify, interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
Execute Global ICFR compliance activities including understanding business processes, conducting and participating in walkthroughs, and performing tests of design and operational effectiveness for key business controls.
Develop a detailed understanding of GM's processes and systems in order to identify both control gaps and any opportunities to streamline processes and controls.
Prepare and update documentation including process flowcharts, risk assessments, test plans.
Document accurate and detailed work papers following internal guidelines.
Partner with external auditors to ensure alignment
Assess control deficiencies, including agreement with control owners on root cause, any mitigating controls, impact analysis, and remediation action plans.
Build effective working relationships with business partners across the organization.
Complete process improvement, modernization and time savings activities.
Provides analysis that drive decisions to optimize business processes and improve results.
Completes special assignments as required
Provides direction to a team of individuals with similar functional responsibility
Additional Job Description
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
4+ years of professional experience
Internal controls experience
Public accounting experience - Big 4 or Large Regional (preferred)
CPA (preferred)
SAP experience (preferred)
People Leader experience (preferred)
