About the specialty/subspecialty
As Canva continues on this exciting period of growth, there is now the need for a General Ledger Accountant to help-out and take ownership over sections of the General Ledger accounting process, such as accruals, post close adjustments and other daily and monthly transactional bookkeeping within the Shared Services function in Manila, supporting Canva Global. You will have experience with general ledger accounting in a commercial environment, transactional bookkeeping, month end close processing experience, high attention to detail, curiosity about process improvements and achieving operational excellence, and an aptitude for using systems and technology. You will work closely to support the Sydney Head Office Finance team, directly reporting to the General Ledger Accounting Lead based in Sydney and supporting the General Ledger Accounting team based in Manila.
We're a fast-moving business so change is frequent and volumes will continue to grow, you'll be comfortable working in a hands-on environment and have excellent communication skills.

To ensure that we can continue to support the business at scale, The Finance Group is made up of a number of distinct teams each with its own separate functions - FinOps, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Planning and Reporting, Finance Business Partner's & Commercial Analysts, and Strategy & Analysis - The main goal of the Finance Team is to continually protect and serve the business.
About your role..
Month End Process
You will be a pivotal team member working with the GL Team, Planning and Reporting, and Finance Business Partners during the month end close process to ensure the timely and accurate closing of the monthly and quarterly books across multiple entities.
Working on preparing post close adjustments such as a number of different cost accruals, and assisting the team on documenting monthly expense variance analysis and budgetary movements.
Ownership over month end close packs for specific entities within the Canva Group structure and coordinating closely with key stakeholders across the business to ensure the most accurate and timely information has been recorded.
General Ledger Reconciliation
Primary owner of monthly balance sheet reconciliations reports for expense accrual accounts & suspense accounts
Ensuring suspense items are resolved promptly and working closely with the Treasury and GL Team's to ensure accurate GL accounting
Chart of Accounts & Dimensional Tagging support
Supporting the dimension review process and ensuring accurate transactional tagging across Canva Group's P&L's on a weekly basis and supporting the chart of accounts review, update & changes process where required.
Ad hoc and other activities
Maintain appropriate files, reports, documentation, and data related to GL accounting, such as supporting information for all accruals and variances.
Assisting with any transactional queries requested by auditors or the finance team
Assistance with policy compliance
Working with the team and ownership of specific areas of process improvement projects and process documentation across the General Ledger team.
Assist with other ad hoc transactional and reporting activities within the shared services team
Also, we'd love it if you have...
A Bachelor's/College Degree in Finance/Accountancy or equivalent
2-3 years of knowledge and experience in transactional processing, reporting, and related month-end processes
Experience within a General Ledger Accountant role is highly preferred
Experience with ERP systems such as Xero, SAP, Oracle, Workday Financials, etc is essential, experience with NetSuite Oneworld is preferred but not required.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
A keen eye for details and the ability to identify and correct errors in processing
Highly organised with the ability to work within set deadlines
Advanced Excel/Gsheet skills are desirable
