Description
The position encompasses a wide array of tasks related to banking activity, transactions between Emerson business units, expense reporting audits, month-end closing, and general ledger account analysis.
The individual assists the Division General Accounting Manager and the Finance staff during month-end closing process and interacts with broad base of personnel.
Responsibilities
• Process domestic and international banking transactions (including initiating wire transfers, transmitting A/P check and ACH files, monitoring Positive Pay, tracking daily cash disbursements and receipts, recording and depositing checks received, and preparing subsequent journal entries relating to these transactions).
• Maintain bank information for authorizations and bank signatures and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
• Gather, process and record domestic netting settlements relating to transactions with other Emerson business units.
• Audit employee expense reports and reimbursement voucher requests.
• Prepare monthly Corporate Health and weekly Disability remittance advices for medical and dental insurance, life insurance, HMO/PPO insurance payments and LTD payments. Prepare corresponding journal entries and keep database up to date.
• Collect and summarize payroll data for various Corporate and government reports monthly, quarterly and annually as required, (ex. autos, country club usage, tax preparation, spousal travel, Mexican commuters).
• Review and correct mapping of Oracle electronic payroll reporting for upload in JDE general ledgers; prepare corresponding journal entries including disbursement, payroll taxes and employee withholding. Sustain documents to record, process payments and provide general ledger account reconciliation for employee withholding, including but not limited to garnishments, child support, tax levies.
• Inter-company transactions and related journal entries.
• Enter and journalize miscellaneous debit and credit memos.
• Analyze key G/L accounts monthly, including, but not limited to, legal fees, professional fees, and employee recruitment.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
• B.S. Accounting and at least 3 to 5 years of accounting experience preferred
• Knowledge of taxable payroll transactions preferred.
