The Opportunity: As a member of Open Text's Corporate Accounting team, the Accountant will take a lead role in preparing timely and accurate management and operational financial reports. This will include recording the company expenses related to employees in the company GL and account reconciliations. The Accountant will also assist in ensuring processes are properly documented and functioning as expected. The Accountant may be called upon to work on special projects as required.
You Are Great At:
Primarily responsibilities include handling the full set of accounting functions.
Preparation of monthly journal entries to record the company expenses related to employees into the company General Ledger
Preparation of monthly account reconciliations with an understanding of the underlying details
Ensuring that the balance sheet reconciliations are up to date, easy to understand and that historical items are cleared in a timely manner.
Analyzing month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter variances of the relevant payroll accounts
Provide audit schedules, support, and liaise with respective counterparts and external auditors regarding statutory reporting
Developing close working relationships with cross-functional teams.
Completing special projects and identifying areas for improvement as required.
What It Takes:
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's/College Degree in Accountancy
3+ years of related experience with solid US GAAP/ accounting knowledge
Prior experience with a global organization and foreign exchange is helpful.
Strong analytical and issue-resolution skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and initiative are required.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a cooperative team member.
Proven ability to perform under tight timelines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A strong understanding of payroll processes is an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer literate with high proficiency in MS Office applications - Excel is required.
Experience in SAP is required
