Job Description
Reporting directly to our Australian based Chief Financial Officer, the primary purpose of the role is to lead the Finance team ensuring continued uplift of performance, process and efficiency over time. This includes establishing systems and procedures that can withstand the rigours of audit at the level of an Australian listed company, together with an extensive mergers and acquisition due diligence process.
Operating as a member of the Philippines Country Leadership team the Financial Controller plays a key role in driving contemporary workplace practices, cultural and behavioral standards and employee engagement in line with Deep Blue Company's ways of working.
You'll be responsible for leading the team (approx 15 employees) to deliver:
Manage the Accounts Receivable & Payable function
• Daily receipting of funds into the company bank account and the Trust bank account
• Generation of customer invoices including debt management reporting
• Daily review of AP ledgers (AU and PH)
Drive an appropriate reporting regime, including
• delivering all required Statutory reporting
• working collaboratively to generate Group accounts necessary for Shareholder reporting and the Australian Securities Investment Commission
• lead the process to assist the external auditors to complete the audit necessary to sign Group accounts
Month end processes and reporting
• manage the month end process and generate the end of month reporting process including preparation of management reports coupled and variance analysis
• generation of cashflow forecasts and metric / KPI reporting for the Group as required
Tax and Financial Regulatory Compliance
• Australia: oversee the process for generation of information necessary to lodge regulatory tax payments in Australia, including GST, BAS and Payroll taxes
• Philippines: oversee the process for generation of information necessary to lodge regulatory tax payments in the Philippines, including VAT and BIR
Treasury
Assist in the Group bank relationship in Australia and the Philippines, including
• Bank Accounts
• Funds transfers
• Credit Cards (holders, limits, funding etc)
• Any relevant FX hedging and spot facilities
Manage the financial aspects of the Trust Account activities
• Trust Accounting and operations including generating monthly reporting, daily reconciliation, reporting balances, funds release, deposit receipting etc
Payroll
• Work in partnership with HR teams in AU and PH to deliver timely and accurate payroll processes across all locations and companies including commission payments to sales teams
Qualifications
You're a driven, highly motivated, proactive leader who brings to the role:
• Completed Bachelors degree in business with CA or CPA qualifications
• Demonstrable knowledge of international Accounting standards and financial principles,
• At least 5+ years experience leading a Finance team to deliver outcomes, create a positive team environment and improve efficiency
• Adaptable mindset with the ability to identify and implement process efficiency and improvement
• Strong communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to build strong relationships, influence outcomes and solve complex problems
• Experience preparing and delivering board and business reports
• Understanding of key financial and business variables in a complex and changing commercial environment with a keen eye for detail and quality
• Experience in analyzing financial information to ensure the operational activity delivered by the team is accurate, complete and compliant.
Systems & Technology expertise
• M365 software, particularly EXCEL
• General Ledgers (XERO and Netsuite)
• Salarium Payroll System
WORKING LOCATION & TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Our teams are currently working from home however, this role will be based in our Makati head offices once circumstances allow. In order to be considered for this opportunity you must be able to demonstrate your home working environment is as follows:
• conducive home office (free from noise and distraction)
• main internet: wired internet of at least 5mbps
• reliable back up internet: at least 3mbps speed
