The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end design and documentation of Electrical (Low Voltage and Extra-Low Voltage) Building Services for a diverse portfolio of commercial, hospitality projects. A core requirement is ensuring all designs strictly adhere to BS, NEC & NFPA, International Codes and standards, and the specific Local Authority Regulations of the region, primarily the UAE and KSA.Duties and Responsibilities:· Completion of electrical design packages to meet project timescales, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, local authority regulation and contract deliverables· Ensure 100% design compliance with international standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC standards, BS standard and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, specifically NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm), and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code).· Perform comprehensive electrical load calculations comply with local authority regulation as per the project function· Design and develop all electrical systems, including Low Voltage (LV) power distribution, lighting (internal, external, and emergency), earthing and lightning protection, and fire alarm systems.· Develop detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLD), cable schedules, schematic diagrams, plans, and technical specifications.· Specify and select major electrical equipment such as transformers, generators, switchgear, panel boards, and UPS systems.· Design and coordinate Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems like Data/Voice networks, CCTV, Access Control, Public Address, and Building Management Systems (BMS).· Conduct voltage drop and short-circuit analysis to ensure system safety and efficiency.· Provide input to internal design coordination meetings· Research, design and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles· Assist in the satisfactory resolution of any design project issues and implement protocols and process to ensurerepeat errors do not occur· Collaborate closely with Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical (MEP) teams to ensure optimal spatial and functional integration of electrical services.Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material samples during the construction phaseRequirementsMust-have Skills / Qualification:· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.· Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5 (or equivalent) is strictly required.· Membership of a relevant professional institution· 5+ years of professional design experience in Electrical Engineering in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and at international levels· Experience in Bluebeam· Demonstrable experience with design software for calculations (e.g., Dialux/Relux for lighting, ETAP or similar for power system analysis and MS office).· Comprehensive knowledge of MV/LV power systems, ELV systems, and relevant codes (NEC, NFPA, IEC, BS Standards)· Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment, including LV distribution, Lighting design & control, data cabling, UPS systems, IT topology, CCTV, Access Control and AV Systems· Excellent technical knowledge and expertise in Electrical Distribution; LV system, Lighting, Power circuit Design and Load Schedules· Proficient and with design experience in the following (or working towards):o Low power systemo Power distributiono Fire Alarm &Detection Systemo Emergency light systemso Lighting & Control Systemo IT & Communications Structured Cablingo Access Control & CCTV Systemo Audio/ Visual SystemBMS System· Excellent knowledge and experience of local and international standards and norms· Experience with Revitas· Familiar with electrical systems testing and commissioning procedures· Experience of working within a multi-cultural team-working environment· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines· Good team working skills with the ability to work with a wide range of other engineering and business disciplines, both internally and externally· Able to provide guidance and support to other team members· Good verbal and written communication skills and fluency in English both written and verbal· Willingness to travel as required· Committed to bringing enthusiasm and dedication to an evolving dynamic team environment· The ability to work both independently and as part of a team· The ability to work under pressure, solve engineering problems and deal with a variety of issuesAdvantageous· Accredited Professional certification in LEED· Revit MEP· AutoCAD· MS Office· Amtech· Dialux
