BUSINESS SUMMARY
ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) was originally established in 1996 as SNN, the Sarimanok News Network. SNN was the brainchild of the late Eugenio "Geny" Lopez Jr. who envisioned a TV station that would become the Filipinos' primary source of news and information. Geny believed that with SNN, he was bridging geographical gaps separating Filipinos or in his own words "building bridges on the air."
SNN began airing on SKY Cable Channel 21 on May 1, 1996. Back then the channel served viewers the top stories of the day via two major newscasts - Dateline Philippines and Primetime News while short news advisories aired throughout the day.
To enhance its resources and strengthen its position as THE news channel for Filipinos, SNN in 1998 joined forces with SKY Cable News, another Lopez-owned channel that specialized in business news reporting. The merger of the two stations paved the way for the formation of the Philippines' first, 24/7 news and current affairs channel offering the latest in domestic and international news, business information, sports and weather updates and lifestyle features. In 1999 the station changed its name to ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
Today ANC has firmly established its identity as an accurate and unbiased source of information and the go-to station for breaking news, wall-to-wall live news coverage and analysis with context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Identifies and sets stories/episodes for pitching and line-up as required by the platform's concept, equity and branding;
Attends weekly meeting/brainstorming and submits viable topics/story suggestions for future episodes;
Work in close coordination with the program anchor/host for the workflow of the episode;
Writes the story outline and scripts of the program for submission to the Executive Producer or Immediate Superior;
Identifies the audio-visual production requirements based on the story/episode and program's concept and incorporates it in the script;
Serves as team leader and directly supervises technical/logistics work during pre-production, actual production and post-production of any given assigned story;
Transcribe interviews as needed in the script or story
Checks for errors, edit titles, tags and description, including end screens of video content for the assigned platform;
Allocates program resources efficiently and cost effectively and liquidates budget used during production;
Handles on-ground events related to the program.
Responsible for safekeeping of storage materials (CF, SD, Micro SD, Hard drives) during shoot;
Monitors competition and identifies its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and constantly assesses program position in relation to it and
Do multi-task or perform other digital producer work assigned by the Executive Producer/Immediate Superior.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent experience
Required skills: Production and digital skills
Required languages: English, Filipino
Experience in journalism-related field is required
Must be okay with a project-based employment
