Dash10 Managed Services, a representative office of Zeald, a New Zealand based company, is looking for a competent, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a DevOps Engineer. As a DevOps Engineer, you are responsible for Zeald's and Dash10's network, cloud and internal systems. You also need to assist the company with planning, maintaining, administration and monitoring of all server operations to achieve a high level of up-time and issue resolution.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Maintaining, troubleshooting and improving Zeald's linux-based network of cloud servers running Mysql, NFS, Apache, Plesk and our own perl-based application server software, along with AWS cloud services.
* Updating, managing & maintaining the security of Zeald's clients sites (including Wordpress, Magento and other CMS technologies).
* Resolving issues with Email, DNS, Domain Names
* Dealing with compromised websites, restoring backups and closing security holes and cleaning up after security breaches.
* Being on-call to deal with outages and urgent issues after hours.
* Supporting our teams of NZ-based and Philippines-based developers with network and system administration issues.
* Documentation of systems admin procedures and technical details.
* Manage your time well, including using the 'Zeald Timetracker' to record time spent completing tasks. This is essential for monitoring, reporting and accurate billing purposes.
* Help refine the procedures and processes for accomplishing all tasks and server operations and help with any administration tasks.
* Maintenance and improvement of systems administration scripts and tools (written in Perl, Bash or PHP).
* Perform any other task as directed by NZ/PH managers and supervisors.
* Be a positive, professional, willing and adaptable member of the team at all times.
Key Attributes:
* Ability to follow and create systems, policies and procedures in line with changing business requirements.
* Experience in systems administration or webmaster-related roles.
* A good understanding of Linux-based system administration, including managing software such as Apache & Mysql.
* Knowledge of linux-based scripting languages such as PHP, Perl or Bash
* Knowledge of key AWS technologies such as EC2/VPC/RDS and
* A strong desire to learn, and the ability to track down answers to problems by searching the internet and using online forums and resources.
* Familiarity with open source website technologies
* Strong work ethic and a very high level of commitment to the role.
* Fast learner with the ability to adapt and cope well with change.
* Strongly self motivated with unfailing commitment to achieve the required outcomes.
This is a full-time role and the usual work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. We offer a competitive salary, free health care, and great perks such as paid two weeks off during the Christmas and New Year period.
