General Function
The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the treating dentist including execution of pre-and post-treatment tasks.
Specific Functions
1. Ensures that the treatment area is ready for operation at the start of clinic hours and conducts proper closing procedures at the end of clinic hours.
2. Conducts regular checking of dental equipment, facility, including refills of clinic supplies in the treatment area.
3. Prepares dental chair, equipment, medicaments, and instruments prior to start of treatment.
4. Accompanies patients from reception to designated dental chair and from treatment area back to reception for payment and schedule of next visit.
5. Assists the treating dentist by giving required instruments, retracting oral tissues, and performs four-handed dentistry whenever necessary.
6. Ensures completeness and accuracy of entries in patient information form and patient's chart which includes recording of procedures done in patient's chart.
7. Ensures compliance of cleaning procedures after treatment.
