Purpose of the role
In this role, you will be responsible for working with client data sources and assisting with the transformation of this data into well-structured sources which are appropriate for reporting. This will include not only working within the data but also improving database structures of client data sets to assist the Intelligence digital team to build robust and first-class cloud-based data architecture and reporting structures.
As a valued member of the team, you will assist in the continuous improvement of our data environment by enriching it with new data sources, addressing inefficiencies in our processes, and resolving issues. Moreover, you will support data science initiatives that provide value or improve business efficiency within our agile project management and technical database support.
Key areas of this role
Data (80%)
Managing data stores and applying best practice principles to the improvement of existing schemas and structures
Create, analyze and improve new and existing ETL processes in data collection, cleansing, and import
Agile Project Management (20%)
Follow and implement basic agile principles in task management, testing, and deployment to production environments
Manage and work alongside internal and external IT contractors
Duties and responsibilities
1. Data
Analyze and assess overall database schemas and structure and advise on opportunities to improve
Support our clients through data cleansing initiatives.
Proactively maintain and manage data sources that are well-crafted, efficient, and allow for flexibility when used for reporting and visualization purposes
Maintenance of data warehouse solutions.
Ensure data is regularly monitored and in sync across critical environments, take ownership of data integrity and quality
Document existing ETL processes, identify process inefficiencies and improve accordingly
Support existing team members (Systems and Operations Analyst).
2. Agile Project Management
Working alongside our internal Intelligence team based in Brisbane, Australia
Support the Digital Specialist as required to complete tasks as they arise.
Implement and drive a testing strategy that ensures critical functionality and data integrity is retained over time
3. General Responsibilities
Provide quality internal and external customer service
Follow Intelligence staff guidelines and expectations.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
A successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience working with and analyzing large and complex datasets, having used software languages such as SQL, Python, and, javascript
They will have undertaken a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent. Machine learning or other statistical modeling skills will be a distinct advantage as will your experience with a visualization tool (such as Tableau).
At least two years of experience and demonstrated success in a similar role
Technical proficiency in relational databases, database concepts, and a data science or other technical university degree, or certification
Ability to operate independently
Understanding of general systems and IT protocols
Exposure to large-scale, complex projects, with the ability to work under pressure, autonomously, and in ambiguous environments
The company uses a selection of tools including Matillion to orchestrate ELT jobs, Snowflake as a data warehouse, MYSQL, and SQL Server along with Tableau as a data visualization tool. Experience with these tools would be welcome.
