Roles and Responsibilities
This is for our American client in the commercial construction industry. We are in need of Cost Engineer to review and verify Change Order Request pricing from subcontractors, ensure labor and material quantities correspond to the changes in scope, ensure that labor and material rates are within the industry/project standards, and verify time and material tickets and notify Project Team of any requests for time extension/time impacts on submitted change orders.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Interpret RFIs, ASIs, Bulletins, Change Documents for potential cost impact
- Overlay construction plans and provides a narrative of changes
- Perform Quantity takeoffs in OST and Bluebeam
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors, to identify and resolve discrepancies in pricing, via email, and via phone
- Follow up on pricing requests, track down pricing from subcontractors.
- Compare subcontractors' change order log to O'Neil Subcontractor Tracking log. Identify and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare Change Order pricing packages, so the packages are ready for submission to the Owner
- Support Change Management Team Lead
Required Experience
- 3 years minimum combined work experience in building construction and estimating
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction related field
- Familiar with the Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC) and International Code Council (ICC)Familiar with different types of building construction (i.e.Type I; II; III; IV; V)
- Familiar with the different types of estimating format (by Trade; by Division and Systems or Assembly)
- Proficient in reading plans, drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
A Successful Candidate must have
- Speaking, reading, and writing fluent English skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Reading construction plans, drawings, and specifications skills
- Project Management skills
- Ability to perform quantity survey (take-offs) and identify different construction materials
- Skills to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet all deadlines
