Purpose of Role:
Corporate Relations Director is to lead an ambitious government and stakeholder relations agenda that helps position Diageo as a trusted and respected global company within Philippines, and to manage key public policy areas that can impact on the company's commercial and operational success.
Corporate Relations is an important function within Diageo, playing a pivotal role in helping the Philippines business deliver on our ambition to create the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products goods company in the country. It is externally facing and deals with Governments, Trade Associations and other stakeholders. The role reports into the General Manager and works closely with CR's other team members in communications and corporate social responsibility areas.
The role also works with other functions in the business such as commercial and supply, where government legislation and regulation can impact their operations.
Top Accountabilities
1. Guide and navigate our business through a complex and unique regulatory landscape to deliver positive immediate and long-term outcomes supporting Diageo's corporate and commercial and growth priorities.
Represent Diageo Philippines directly - and through leadership positions on Trade Associations - to monitor and develop legislation to ensure the marketing, sale and consumption our products is fair, self-regulated where necessary and in accordance with generally understood regional and global trading conventions. Drive self-regulation of alcohol industry to ensure safe and responsible access to alcohol products across the spectrum of commercially available routes to market - with a focus on eCommerce platforms.
2. Spokesperson for Diageo Philippines business as well as leadership communications coach for the leadership team. Ensuring messages delivered by the leadership team are disseminated inside and externally as required, while being compliant with relevant Diageo policies.
Responsible for Employee Engagement within Philippines: delivering of programs/case studies to increase learning and drive engagement. Ensuring global and regional campaigns are delivered in a compelling and meaningful way locally. SEA Communications business partner: work alongside and into Director of Corporate Relations, SEA to ensure consistent delivery of initiatives, programmes and policies over the business unit. Own, grow and manage relationships with important stakeholders across respective government agencies to ensure that Diageo voice is heard, and interests protected, including Embassies (UK, US) Business Councils and expanding new partnerships across other industries to lend weight to Diageo interests and ambition Build positive corporate brand reputation through active participation on committees and external speaking engagements individually or through nominating other leadership team members.
3. ​Responsible for Philippines Diageo in Society Agenda for 2030 supporting the global targets, meaning an understanding of building NGO stakeholder partnerships, community engagement and experience of partnerships with local and global NGOs is essential.
Lead Responsible Drinking programmes to ensure widespread awareness of and adherence to positive drinking initiatives for Diageo and the broader industry. Responsible for managing compliance of the Diageo Marketing Code across marketing and the leaderships team protecting our license to operate, responsibly. Ensure our responsible drinking programmes always are aligned with or exceed the local market regulations and maintain relationships with relevant government stakeholders and partners. Ensure accountability and delivery of Philippines business sustainability for the global Diageo in Society programme and champion our goals throughout the business.
What You Need To Bring To This Role
- Degree or/and Masters with a minimum of 10 years-experience in a corporate or government environment, having successfully held public policy and/or government relations roles.
- Experience working in a commercial or high energy environment is preferable and in a matrix organisation and are able to influence other functions to delivered positive performance and business outcomes.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Resilient and able to successfully navigate ambiguity and demonstrate understanding of complex policy issues.
