Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for planning and selecting a range of products to sell. S/He ensures that the right merchandise is available at the right store with correct pricing. The Buyer sees to the health of overall inventory and sales offtake. S/He is the gatekeeper for each item's profitability.
I. Buying
Conducts inventory simulation to gauge levels and health.
Decides on products to be carried based on campaigns, trends, forecasts, and demand.
Plans for expected demand based on seasonality.
Identifying and meeting suitable suppliers/merchandisers.
Prepares product catalog for institutional selling.
II. Performance Analysis
Checks on sales of items versus inventory.
Executes strategies to achieve sales targets and maintain desired inventory levels.
Ascertains profitability targets are met with promotions introduced.
III. Upkeep
Implements discount scheme while maintaining desired total gross margin.
Conducts store visits, initiates customer interaction, and touches base with front liners.
Keeps abreast with competitors and customer interest.
Qualifications:
1. College graduate, preferably Degree Holder of Management course
2. Has at least 5 years of experience in the same field or industry.
3. Demonstrates inductive reasoning in finding patterns.
4. Possesses both critical and creative thinking.
5. Abreast with the lifestyle and activities of target consumers.
6. Highly knowledgeable in Excel.
7. Has strong communication and presentation skills.
8. Detail-oriented.
9. Able to work well with team members and suppliers.
