Your role and work environment
You work within the Wholesale Banking Centre of Excellence Business Control, (hereafter BC). Our purpose: Wholesale Banking is Safe; we are in control and we can prove that to ourselves the regulators and the external world. The CoE BC is responsible the definition, development and global implementation of the integral WB risk & control framework as well as continuously proving the effectiveness by means of testing and reporting. Furthermore the CoE BC advise and support WB business on with regards to 1st line Business Control. As an Expertise Lead, you will lead a group of 10 to 15 NFR&C professionals and you are responsible for the development and maintenance of their expertise and craftsmanship. You and your expertise team have a responsibility for:
Advice and support of current WB business lines with regard to all related NFR topics. This includes amongst others support on risk assessments, risk mitigation & issue tracking, control execution and monitoring & quality assessment.
Execution of key control testing activities
You work with all WB departments (sectors, products, regions and functions) to ensure that non-financial risk management happens on a daily basis. This requires deep knowledge of the banking products, services, processes and organisation as well as understanding of the WB risk & control framework and interpersonal skills to make it happen. Furthermore you play an active role in developing risk awareness throughout the bank.
Your key responsibilities
As an Expertise Lead:
You are responsible for a group of 10 to 15 Non-Financial Risk experts.
You facilitate, support and motivate your team members.
You create balanced risk awareness by making non-financial risk/1st line business control simple and maybe even fun, for the global WB Business Control community, local and global management and others involved.
You, with your team, are responsible for non-financial business control management happens on a day-to-day basis.
You, with your team, are responsible for the execution of the key-control testing for both the generic and the specific controls throughout WB.
You keep track of relevant developments and innovations (internal and external)
At this Job Level the experience aimed for should be the following:
7+ Work experience in a Banking or Business Control, Risk, and or Internal Audit (within Bank or outside) environment is a must
10+ years' experience in Process and Internal Control Implementation, Coordination, Scheduling and Key Control Testing/Audit of Design and Operating Effectiveness, through walkthroughs, mapping of controls to local procedures, methodical sampling, etc.
Worked in a 3 Lines of Defense environment is an advantage
Experience in Conducting Non-Financial Risk Assessments is a must, plus knowledge of assessing level of Residual Risk (after mitigating controls are deemed effective) is an advantage.
Must be able to perform varied simultaneous tasks in an environment of medium to high complexity
Coordination of goals, progress, tracking and follow up with various parties of different nationalities must be a gained skill through previous experience
Must be able to write and summarize test results in a concise and complete detailed output
It is an advantage to have experience in various testing techniques such as:
Corroborative inquiry
Observation
Re-performance
Examination of documentation
Analysis of data sets to determine testing operating effectiveness
There is a responsibility also in the role to manage and upskill other Business Control Officers using Agile rituals and practices
Be responsible for developing the craftmanship of the Business Control Officers managed.
