The Business Analyst is the "whole brained" team member who has both left and right brained capabilities. He is capable of conducting / assisting in the technical analysis as part of a project team, while being able to assist as well in project management and contribute his/ her creative ideas to problem solving. The Business Analyst can talk "geek" today, sweat out the details in terms of project management tomorrow, can come up with brilliant powerpoint slides the next day and rev up a real fantastic Business presentation, delivering it in front of the Senior Leadership team. This role will work closely with various functional teams internally and with clients to translate business requirements into strong recommendations from Cobena on the basis of solid analysis, research and a lot of robust internal discussions within Cobena. The Business Analyst functions to put together all the pieces to help solve our clients' problems.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Senior consultant in the preparation of project proposals; getting flie clients inputs, and post obtaining project approval, maintain oversight of the progress of the whole project (via high quality project management skills) in terms of Cobena's areas scope of work; requirements from clients and ensuring satisfactory full project delivery on time and within budget
In charge of the clay to day liaison with the client
In charge of conducting stakeholder interviews, desk research, data analysis to ensure that the requirements of the project deliverables are being met
Explore and examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden weaknesses, trends and/or opportunities
Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts
Design robust dashboards using different types of Business Intelligence/analytics tools
Design computer programs for extracting data and the conduct of analytics
Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
Collaborate with data architects, modelers and IT team members on project goals
Co-develop new algorithms to solve problems ; working with the Data analysts in the organization in the design, running of machine learning models, simulation models and other statistical tools
Writes programs to derive desired answers, inputs into the design of database systems to allow for robust and efficient database management, particularly for use in scoreboards/dashboards
Communicate predictions and findings to management through effective data visualizations and reports
Present analysis results to clients and engage them in a thorough discussion on possibilities; provides further iteration to ensure that constructed models are "best fit" to the business situation
Works closely with the Account management, Finance, and Data management teams to put together cohesive business proposals that provide the most efficient and effective way to address business issues;
Assists Finance in ensuring the collections of company receivables in the course of project milestones
Assists in the conduct of company public training sessions for Cobena Data Sciences Academy
Any additional responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Technical Skills (Analytics and Computer Science)
Candidate must possess a working knowledge of one or a combination of the following skills :
Analytics - Understanding what data to collect, how to analyze it and detect patterns and links; conversant to expert in the areas of Linear algebra, linear programming and operations research
Accounting skills: Financial or Management accounting
Computer Science - Automating new, break-out algorithmic processes to drive business changes.
Knowledge of the following preferred:
SAS and/or R - In-depth knowledge of at least one of the analytical tools available.
Python Coding - Knowledge of coding languaga such as Python, Java, Perl or C/C++
Hadoop
SQL Database/Coding - able to write and execute complex queries in SQL
Tableau/ Cognos/ Qlikview
o Unstructured data - able to work with unstructured data such as social media, video / audio feeds, etc.
Statistics - Seeking innovative insights by correlating data in new ways. (preferred but not required)
Must possess very strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Powerpoint & Word
