This position will be working closely with other members of the Asia Regional Tax Team and is responsible for assisting on tax matters with the countries in the region. The Asia Regional Tax Analyst will be expected to help ensure that corporate principles, standards, and policies are applied consistently among the countries. A significant component of the job includes working on global tax projects for the region.
This role provides the candidate with opportunities to learn and develop knowledge of local tax rules as well as the diverse range of financial service activities within the region. It would also expose the role to issues related to other group functions (e.g., Controllers, FP&A, Treasury, Accounting Policy, Regulatory Compliance) and require collaborative interaction with senior Finance managers.
Responsibilities include:
Working closely with the country tax teams, to manage tax accounting, tax planning, and tax compliance initiatives in the region;
Monitor tax accounting practices and controls;
Analyzing tax balance sheet accounts, tax attribute utilization and effective tax rate;
Reviewing and communicating uncertain tax positions and determining reserve positions;
Help manage global and regional tax planning projects;
Supporting country and NY tax teams on audits and inquiries;
Provide assistance to all stakeholders in relation to Risk and Control requirements (including GRC, MCA, etc.);
Require committed effort to stay abreast of applicable Citi policies, standards and guidelines and provide guidance to stakeholders in the region, where necessary;
Assist in the development of proposed process and control streamlining/efficiencies across the region.
Knowledge/Experience:
CPA or equivalent
Tax experience at an accounting firm or financial services corporation
Working with multiple stakeholders and in an organization with a matrix management structure
Skills:
Ability to communicate simply, clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, adjusting style to suit the audience
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal with colleagues at all levels across the Firm
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
Ability to gain consensus and agreement across disparate functions, products and geographies
Strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently and prioritize appropriately, apply commercial judgment with technical proficiency and the ability to manage/complete multiple matters timely within a team framework.
