OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME The role of the Communications unit is:- to use communications to increase awareness of health issues, and enhance visibility and engagement with WHO, among media, Member States, donors and other partners, and the general public; and - to use communications as a tool for policy advocacy, behaviour change, and building constituencies and partnerships around key public health challenges in WHO's Western Pacific Region.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Communications Officer and guidance of the Regional Communications Manager, the selected candidate will perform the following duties:
1. Develop and execute social media plans, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak response, including through platform determination, messaging, benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation and audience identification in close coordination with COM, country offices and technical units in the Regional Office;
2. Define social media key performance indicators; analyse and report social media data on a weekly and monthly basis and, as needed, determine the success behind a particular social media campaign/post;
3. Support the development and implementation of engaging social media content in the context of COVID-19 outbreak response that builds on meaningful connections, informs audiences and encourages them to take action while reinforcing people's trust in WHO, especially in the Western Pacific Region;
4. Regularly monitor comments/questions posted on WPRO's social media channels and draft/post responses as and when needed;
5. Actively support the implementation of Regional Office's ongoing collaboration with social media partners, especially those that pertain to Facebook ads for the COVID-19 response;
6. Actively support country offices' capacity for social media engagement and monitoring;
7. Stay current with social media trends, tools and best practices;
8. Use social media analytics tools such as BrandWatch to monitor and analyse engagement on WPRO's social media channels; and
9. Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education Essential: Completion of secondary education with relevant training in media and communication.
Desirable: University degree in communications, public relations or marketing.
Experience Essential: At least five years' relevant experience in communications, journalism, marketing/advertising or related field, preferably with a large international organization
Desirable: Experience working in the UN. Experience in developing digital materials and executing social media and/or advocacy campaigns.
Skills
Knowledge and skills in corporate communication and advocacy and demonstrated understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Ability to operate multimedia equipment (e.g. video and still cameras and audio recorders, iPhone, etc.) and proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Knowledge of social media analytics tools and software (e.g. Google Analytics, Twitter Insights, Facebook Insights).
Understanding of user-generated content management and reputation management.
Very strong verbal and writing skills, and capacity to research and quickly assimilate large volumes of information; package and disseminate succinct products to meet audiences' needs.
Ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks, perform under pressure and deliver high-quality products on deadline.
Exercise judgment, pay attention to detail and take initiative when appropriate.
Creativity and ability to learn quickly and innovate.
Good organizational skills and ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

REMUNERATION WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PHP 603,027 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
