The Ship Accountant is primarily responsible for providing Accounting support to the Principals/Ship Owners of the business unit assigned to him/her. Tasks included are, but not limited to:
- Responsible for periodic submission of statement of accounts to shipping principals or ship-owning company account position, whenever applicable or required, complete with appropriate documentary support;
- Preparing accounting journal entries for master's cash account on board and slopchest reports received from captains where principal requires for the performance of such tasks;
- Encoding aforementioned transactions to computerized general ledger system and generates account activity and other necessary reports;
- Performing reconciliation of various principal accounts such as balance wage account, ROP, leave pay, slopchest, master's cash account, crew receivable, union dues payable, etc.;
- Securing the supporting documentation concerned with costs derived from the various books of accounts affecting account of principals;
Prepares crew cost estimate for accrual of accounts whenever requested by principal;
- Performing other accounting work as maybe directed by superior.
The Ship Accoountant should have the following qualifications:
- Graduate of BS Accountancy or any related field
- CPA lincense is a nice-to-have
- Can work with minimum supervision
- Willing to render overtime work when needed
- Able to speak/comprehend in the English language
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
