Description
1. Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
2. Develops layout and plans sequence of operations for fabricating and assembling structural metal products, applying trigonometry and knowledge of metal.
3. Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto the workpiece, allowing for stock thickness and machine and welding shrinkage.
4. Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
5. Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
6. Positions, aligns, fits, and welds together parts, using jigs, welding torch, and hand tools.
7. Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
8. Sets up and operates machine tools associated with fabricating shops, such as radial drill, end mill, and edge planer.
9. Mark reference points into materials to prepare for various modifications and additions prior to welding.
10. Position and tighten braces, bolts, clamps, boots, and other necessary parts into place for welding and riveting.
11. Straighten parts that are bent or warped due to defects in the manufacturing process or damage caused by human error.
12. Performing quality checks on completed products.
13. Ensure compliance with the state and company safety regulations.
14. Perform other related tasks deemed necessary by the management.
