THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International is currently implementing an emergency response to Typhoon Odette hit communities in Southern Leyte.
In line with this project, Plan International invites competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.
The Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Engineer will be in charge of the engineering support for the WASH activities of the response.
Further, as the WASH Engineer:
You will lead in the engineering design of the WASH facilities component of the project. This includes water systems, health facilities, toilets, etc.
You will prepare detailed basic construction drawing/s including modifications for fieldwork guidance, preparation of PoWs, designs, estimates, BoQs, and implementation plan.
You will provide reports of the construction/s as needed.
You will provide basic knowledge of water supply and sanitation to Local Partners, as part of their social preparation.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful in the role you will need among other things:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related course with/or equivalent construction practice.
Minimum three (3) years' work experience in construction, preferably in the community development sector.
Relevant knowledge and experience in designing urban and rural water supply facilities, Sphere standards, and related government building construction codes.
Relevant knowledge of gender-sensitive designs and needs of the vulnerable population, especially young children and elderly
Previous experience in disaster or emergency response is an advantage.
Good verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
Ability to understand and speak the local language; familiar with municipalities in Region VIII.
Applicants must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino national.
