Job Description
Working closely with company farm managers and external consultants to achieve optimum flock health and biosecurity controls.
Carry out detailed clinical and necropsy on poultry, interpreting results and identify opportunities to improve.
Collect and handle tissue samples while maintaining sample integrity.
Supervise vaccinations, flock transfers and grading procedures.
Assist company vet to conduct regular biosecurity inspections of Hatchery, Farms, Processing and Egg Grading facilities. This includes shed cleanouts and disinfection.
Monitor inventory of department resources including vaccine, medications, cleaning chemicals and liaising with company vet for re‐orders.
Oversee vet resource storage conditions, monitoring temperatures of storage facilities to ensure viability of vaccines, medication and chemicals.
Work schedule may require early mornings, evenings and weekend work.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Prof'l License(Passed Board/Bar/Prof'l License Exam) holder.
Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science, preferably with a Masters degree in Poultry.
Experience working in high performance work cultures in a challenging environment.
Enjoys teamwork and problem solving, asking and following up for help if necessary.
Ability to critically analyse data, suggest solutions.
Highly motivated with excellent communciation skills.
Basic computer knowledge including creating documents and spreadsheets, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
