UI Engineer (Mid Shift)
You will collaborate with UX designers, developers, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to translate design concepts, wireframes, or other inputs into high-quality software that aligns with corporate UX and branding standards. You will openly collaborate with the team to ensure design and implementation meet requirements for accessibility and help to see those designs through the development process.
Working within both a User-Centered Design (UCD) and an Agile SDLC, the successful candidate has solid communication skills and is able to openly collaborate in learning about our users, as well as working with Scrum teams to usher designs through the development process.
The successful candidate must be able to openly collaborate both remotely and locally. Work with the UX team in learning about our users, and understanding their goals with our solutions. Plus, you have the technical expertise to collaborate with designers in translating designs into our Angular framework leveraging microUIs. You are comfortable and thrive in a fast-paced environment developing enterprise software. You have the ability to provide direction and support to other developers when it comes to semantic markup and styling.
The Role
You input guidance, support, and create interfaces using semantic HTML and CSS within our angular framework that is in line with established and evolving Corporate Standards utilizing Bootstrap and other front-end frameworks.
Have the ability to work with JavaScript (Angular) and HTML to create reusable components.
At your core, you are a web developer that has a functional design focus and is comfortable utilizing and maintaining corporate UX and brand standards.
As a liaison to the UX team, you will work with a UX Lead, other UX designers, and full-stack developers in helping to translate design to functional code.
Conceptualize and build web applications from wireframes and mockups.
You have a base-level understanding of Accessibility and want to learn more. Guiding and supporting Accessible code is a big part of this role.
Ability to debug and quality check the display of the UI (HTML, CSS) across different browsers.
Comfort working with and helping maintain an established and evolving corporate design language.
Familiarity and comfortable working with designers and stakeholders within an Agile and User-Centered Design SDLC.
Strong understanding of web design principles, use of typography, color, and page layouts, with a great eye for detail.
The Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience in front-end user interface development for enterprise-level web applications.
Excellent applied knowledge of UI development and frameworks including HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, Bootstrap, Angular Material, TypeScript, and Angular 2+.
Experience with SASS/LESS is a plus.
Experience with cross-browser compatibility issues and resolutions.
Demonstrable experience in designing responsive web applications.
Experience implementing accessibility WCAG 2.1 standards in web applications, or basic knowledge with willingness to learn.
Experience with optimizing front-end code to be performant, scalable, and extensible.
Experience in an Agile SDLC, scrum, and kanban.
Experience working with collaboration and issue-tracking tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, Confluence, and JIRA.
Experience using source control management tools such as GIT and Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
Must be able to work in a structured development environment and follow coding standards and design patterns.
Excellent self-organizational skills, multi-tasking ability, and proven analytical, methodical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and writing skills, including the ability to research, design, and write new documentation, as well as to maintain and improve existing material.
Proactive: Must be willing to seek out information and solutions that are pertinent to their responsibilities and key to their delivery.
Must be willing to remediate code written by others.
