Höegh Autoliners is a global leader in Ro/Ro deep sea transportation services. The company owns and operates approx. 45 Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) in global trade systems, making around 3 000 port calls yearly. Managed from a worldwide network of around 16 offices, our main customers are major manufacturers of new cars, heavy machinery and other rolling stock. Höegh Autoliners is also a leading carrier of second-hand vehicles.
A Lot About You
You are someone who is analytical, and able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As a Trade Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring the vessels' cargo intake is planned and operated in an efficient manner by coordinating with booking offices and sales teams in accordance with the Trade Plan. You are very much interested about international trade and motivated to support trade objectives. You are well organised, driven, and enjoys challenging work as you have the responsibility to coordinate shipments for OEMs, and ensure appropriate service delivery adherence. You can both take and give constructive feedback, and enjoy active team discussions.
You will work in our office located in Tokyo, Japan and will report directly to the Head of Trade Management - East Asia.
Main Responsibilities
Process space requests, define vessel voyage capacity, port calls and rotation
Plan, execute and allocate space
Ensure the optimal space utilisation
Facilitate scheduling with focus on cost and time efficiency
Manage space charters, and in accordance with the applicable Trade and Sales plans
Ad hoc commercial tasks as directed
Support vessel operation
Establish working programs considering all commercial and schedule parameters
Plan, manage and execute contingency plans to meet up to trade/system requirements including deviation analysis.
Coordinate with bunker purchasers and vessels for optimal bunker planning and purchasing
Ensure efficient vessel agent communication
Ensure adequate cost control and awareness when planning working program
Minimum Qualifications
Education at degree level, preferably in a business and/or shipping discipline
Knowledge of shipping, international trade and economics
Some relevant business and operational experience is preferred
Excellent English communication skills, and intercultural understanding
Both a team player and with the ability to work independently
Proactive, self-motivated, and with high personal integrity
Have an understanding of the commercial operation of the vessels
Analytical and cost conscious with the ability to optimise and negotiate
Nice To Have
Experience with IT tools and systems, and digitalising work processes
Prior experience working in an international and diverse organisation
