Job Description
Emerson is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual to join our Manila Test team. As part of the team, your primary role is to ensure product quality, predictability, and on-time delivery of our software products. As a Software Test Engineer, your active involvement and participation are expected in a project's initiation, planning, execution, and test closure phases. The team works with computer software systems with a software architecture that is designed for the distributed enterprise using the latest technologies. The ideal candidate should have an aptitude for testing and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Perform AMS Device Manager, Snap-ons, and Third-party Host testing which includes defining test scope based on requirements, providing test estimates, developing and identifying test plans and test cases, developing test configurations, executing scripted and exploratory test cases, reporting, reviewing, and triaging issues, troubleshooting test system issues, providing information on product enhancements, identifying technical risks, planning validation work and creating test summary reports.
Review and understand project documents (user requirements, concept document, design document, user story, use case document, etc.)
Ensure a holistic approach to testing by considering usability, security, interoperability, performance, and scalability.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Feature Developers to ensure product quality, predictability, and on-time delivery of our products.
Follow the applicable product development processes
Lead/Participate in identifying and implementing process improvements
Lead/Participate in domain expertise learning initiatives
Requirements
Graduate of a BS Engineering course (ChE, EE, ECE, ME, Comp Sci, Comp Eng, ICE or equivalent degree) plus 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or an MS Engineering graduate with 1-3 years of relevant experience
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to various test assignments
Ability to prioritize and perform risk-based tests
Ability to address and solve complex problems
Ability to troubleshoot systems and write a technical report.
Strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with the technology team
Ability to learn quickly and work independently
Ability to collaborate remotely and in a multicultural environment
Has attention to detail, creative with good analytical skills,
Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Windows operating systems and computer networks
Experience in software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing
Experience working with databases such as MS Access
Experience in using Excel Macro
Familiarity with one of the following process industries: hydrocarbon processing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical, food, and beverage or power generation.
Nice-to-have
Experience in popular test automation tools (specifically Ranorex)
Experience in Hypervisors and virtual machines (Vmware, HyperV)
Experience in Agile Software Development
Experience in Azure DevOps
Experience with cloud-based applications using Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
Experience in web application testing
Experience in System Performance and Scalability testing
