Job Description:
Our technology teams are responsible for the bank's entire information technology infrastructure. They develop and maintain the software required to support the bank's business. The teams work closely with the businesses and other infrastructure units to modernise the bank's IT systems to reduce complexity, risk and enable business growth.
The Lead Business Functional Analyst covers the whole analysis phase of a project and is able to design optimal target state business processes, including aspects outside own area of responsibility to ensure target processes are designed and aligned front to back.
Also, implements technical solutions, and configures applications in different environments in response to business problems. To meet the requirements of the business, actively participates in the design and architecture of the application or its components, investigates and proposes appropriate technologies to be used, promotes re-usability of existing components and contributes to the creation of frameworks. Assists more junior members of the team and controls their work where applicable.
Your key responsibilities
Reviews the business architecture outlining cost impacts and value drivers of feasibility studies and proposed solutions for a business/domain area. Defines complex business, process, usability and data requirements in partnership and collaboration with the users.
Formulates and creates complex functional / non-functional specification documentations in close working with engineering teams. Completes and elaborates complex functional designs in accordance with the defined principles, blueprints, standards, patterns, etc.
Designs and conceptualises new complex business solution options and articulates identified impacts and risks. Reviews testing requirements including test plans, test cases, test-data and interface testing between different applications. Works with engineers to resolve complex functional issues arising from user acceptance testing.
Reviews business facing documentation (e.g. user manuals, solution briefs, functional summaries). Works with engineers, to prioritise, trouble shoot and resolve reported bugs / issues / CRs (change requests) on applications. Drives data discovery, sourcing, modelling and analytics to support the creation of data flows and models. This includes researching and profiling data sources in data categories of expertise.
Develops hypotheses to explain why usability, process, functional and data issues have occurred or are likely to occur. Communicates usability and business process improvement, through application of detailed analytics, pattern and root cause analysis. Leverages visualisation techniques. Plays an active role in Communities of Practice such as Business Functional Analysis Community of Practice and other Design related Communities of Practice
Your skills and experience
Degree from an accredited college or university with a preference for Computer Science (or IT related). Business Analysis certification (and/or relevant work experience). Advanced knowledge of methods and tooling for the Business Functional Analysis Profession. Advanced knowledge of MS Office products. Broad knowledge of related business solutions in the marketplace.
Experience managing teams in global IT change projects and varying project / programme environments (waterfall, scrum/agile, etc.); Experience working with business requirements through to system level Functional Specifications. Experience in business analysis, data analytics or UX (user experience). Experience in a financial domain (capital markets, transaction banking, wealth management) and/or related support functions. Experience owning product backlogs, sprint planning and driving release content throughout via prioritised stories.
Advanced analytical and problem solving experience and ability to independently identify issues grasp new concepts, provide insights and solutions and oversee their delivery. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong planning and highly organised with ability to prioritise key deliverables across several workstreams.
Excellent communication and documentation / presentation skills. Self-motivated and flexibility to work autonomously coupled with ability to work in virtual teams and matrix/global organisations including appreciation of different cultures during collaborating and sharing.
Ability to influence and motivate other team members and stakeholders through strong dialogue, facilitation and persuasiveness. Able to act as a point of escalation for team members.
