• Lead and supervise the underwriting and claims teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure accurate and efficient processing of policies and claims.
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures to mitigate risk and maintain profitability.
• Evaluate insurance applications, assessing risks, and making sound underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop competitive insurance products and pricing strategies.
• Oversee the claims handling process, ensuring prompt and fair settlement of claims while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct investigations and review complex claims to assess liability, coverage, and settlement options.
• Foster relationships with brokers, agents, and other key stakeholders to enhance business partnerships and customer satisfaction.
• Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Analyse data and generate reports to track performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies for operational efficiency and customer service enhancement.
• Optimize the use of available resources to achieve targets and deliver exceptional results within budget constraints.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, conducting training sessions and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Business Studies/Administration/Management; Law or similar fields.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory position within the underwriting and claims function of a general insurance company.
• In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, insurance policies, and claims management practices.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of effectively leading and developing a team.
• Hands-on, resourceful and able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented and deadline-driven environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality. • Proficient in utilizing underwriting and claims management systems and tools.
