Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:
Under the Supervision of the Campus Construction Management & Technical Services Section Head, the Technical Assistant provides support and assistance in the implementation, coordination, and documentation of various CAPEX and Common Grounds construction projects on campus.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
A. Operations * Assists in supervising and monitoring various construction projects on campus as assigned
Assists in ensuring compliance with local and national policies related to the building and construction industry, campus construction guidelines, and the University Sustainability Policies and Specific Guidelines.
Conducts regular inspection of ongoing campus construction to ensure that standards and control measures are strictly implemented
Prepares bid documents for the Architectural, Civil, and MEPF trade of proposed construction projects
Prepares cost estimates for proposed construction and major/minor improvement projects
Prepares project Terms of Reference (TOR) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
Evaluates correctness and completeness of contractor's technical proposal, plans, and estimates
Evaluates and prepares payment certificate for contractor's progress billings
Prepares weekly construction project reports and milestones
Prepares sketches and design computation in support of base parameters for proposed projects
B. Strategic * Assists the Section Head and Project Team in the strict implementation of campus construction set policies and standards including its regular review and updating necessary to the organization's operations.
C. Administrative * Ensures proper and efficient administration of contracts and quality project delivery as a requirement in the performance of the section and office mandate
Ensures timely work deliveries and expected results based on University and government set policies, procedures, and standards
Prepares budget and cost analysis for all proposed projects related to the university development
D. Performs other tasks that may be assigned by immediate supervisor and Head of Office and when necessary to office operations
Licensed Architect/Engineer (Civil/Electrical)
At least 5 years work experience
