SUMMARY:
Has day-to-day management responsibilities for a small team of analysts responsible for the initial (level one) alert investigations generated from Northern Trust's automated transaction monitoring system. This role is part of the Global AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Compliance function. Responsible for the assignment of work to the team. Conducts performance management and career development processes for a small team. Job focus is on managing others and applying operational or strategic management skills. Management responsibilities and decisions likely include hiring, performance reviews, pay decisions and development. Achieves goals mostly through work of others. Working supervisor of a technical support team; spends a portion of time performing the work supervised. Analyses information to solve on-going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work . Responsible for results of the team. Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Manages the day-to-day deliverables for a small team while also maintaining the subject matter expertise necessary for AML investigations
Organizes the work of the team, assigns tasks, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work
Provides regular feedback and coaching to the team; completes performance management and career development process.
Works on Quality Checks on completed investigation reports for team members
Interacts with internal partners in various time zones to support global transaction monitoring processes across North America, EMEA, and APAC; navigates through various jurisdictional regulatory requirements and multiple reporting lines.
Consults with global partners regarding more complex or sensitive investigations; ensures alerts requiring further investigation are escalated appropriately and timely to global partners
Acts as the Subject matter expert; has in-depth knowledge of AML and provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a technical level
May recommend appropriate procedural changes
Responsible for direct interaction with different compliance/risk committees and/or management
Creates and analyzes data analytics and various reports to stakeholders if the need arises
Conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions
May interact with regulators and internal auditors as necessary
Resolves problems, identifies the most appropriate solution and may establish new techniques to ensure the team is able to meet its objectives
Has direct impact, on the quality of the tasks performed or services provided by the team
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Requires strong leadership and organizational skills and people management experience
Requires strong analytical and problem solving skills
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
Requires in-depth functional / industry knowledge
Technical skills / knowledge of Northern Trust transaction monitoring systems is preferred
Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others
Requires tact and diplomacy to exchange ideas and information with own team and other teams in a concise and logical way
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Provides day-to-day supervision to a team including coaching on performance, coordinating activities, checking on quality and work progress
At least a Bachelor's/College Degree , Economics, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Business Studies/Administration/Management or equivalent
At least 6 years of related experience
