Position Overview
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration of all Windows systems in the system landscape. The Systems Engineer performs the Windows installation and support of all new systems, as well as supporting development teams and technical support for end users. This position participates in the on-call rotation to support systems after hours and on weekends.
What you'll do at Insight
The Systems Engineer position will have a variety of projects assigned within the Data Center Team based both on experience and opportunity to develop new skills. It is expected the majority of time will be spent resolving problem tickets reported to the Help Desk along with routine maintenance.
Monitor and correct issues in production environment (30%)
Respond to requests for changes in the environment from end users or developers (30%)
Routine maintenance and performing backups (10%)
Installation and configuration of new components (15%)
Code promotion and implementation activities (15%)
What you'll need to join Insight
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Well-rounded background of computer experience preferably including computer internals, troubleshooting, installation, operating systems, applications, and networking.
Experience supporting multiple hardware platforms including Cisco UCS and HP Proliant.
Experience or understanding of several elements of Operating Systems, Programming Languages, and Applications.
Experience in at least one of the following Operating systems: Windows, 2012, 2016 and 2019
Some experience with the following : Unix scripting, Windows Script Host/NT Shell, VBScript, PowerShell, AWK, SED, PERL, C, and C++
Experience supporting Windows environments using the following applications: Oracle, MySQL, MSQL, Apache, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, HP Openview.
Experience managing and supporting VMWare technologies.
Experience supporting an enterprise backup solution with Commvault experience preferred
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/ professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
