Position Overview
Storage engineers are responsible for administering and maintaining a clients storage infrastructure. Becoming familiar with the client environment by understanding the client's data storage needs and how the client uses their storage. Taking ownership of any issues or tasks associated with that client environment and responding to tasks in a timely fashion. These individuals must stay up to date on new technologies to ensure they offer the latest solutions to their clients. They leverage market technologies associated with SAN vendor product enhancements and product roadmaps. They manage and provide current disk and tape storage usage statistics and provide future projected growth estimates.
What you'll do at Insight
The Storage Systems Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and general operations, troubleshooting of client Storage Infrastructure - Primarily NetApp
NetApp SME Level knowledge - Three to Five years of NetApp experience
Performs break/fix troubleshooting, software updates and feature enhancements to Storage IT infrastructure
Supporting and maintaining a multi-vendor environment including SAN & NAS storage arrays
Cross functional skills in Virtualization (VMWare/Cisco UCS) and Networking skills highly preferred
Responds and solves customer issues utilizing technology tools, procedures, and training through awareness of service offerings and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Maintains current knowledge of core service offerings and SLAs, understands all Logical service offerings to better support customer as well as engaging opportunity in expanding any service offering to better service our current customers
Monitor trends and problems to spot patterns and recommend new standards or process changes.
Creates and maintains technical and process documentation. Propose Knowledge changes and update existing process documents.
Collaborate with internal resources, customer, and/or third-party vendor to solve complicated issues or as part of a project.
Provides technical expertise and guidance to Services technicians and other engineers
Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Maintain high quality and timely ticket updates.
Root Cause Analysis as required
On-call as required
What you'll need to join Insight
At least 5+ years of experience in Storage Systems Administration/Engineering, NOC operations, remote trouble shooting, customer management and other related IT services experience
Storage networking troubleshooting skills
Critical thinking in troubleshooting
Able to thrive in an environment characterized by rapidly changing requirements and an ongoing focus on meeting operational objectives
Strong written and verbal English communications skills
Able to successfully manage multiple priorities
Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Strong commitment to company values and operating principles
Excellent client communication skills
Experience with multiple Storage Platforms: Pure, NeApp, Hitachi, Nimble, EMC, 3PAR
