Key Responsibilities
Reports to Chief Officer on all matters
Assist Chief Cook as and when required
Ensure all areas of responsibilities are kept clean, tidy, hygienic and well maintained
Galley duties
Assist the Chief Cook:
With the cleaning and hygiene of the galley.
In the cleaning of all galley equipment.
With the preparation of breakfast and dinner and catering of all meals - buffet style.
- Mess duties
Set tables and attend to all meals service in the dining saloon
Washing up of meal crockery and utensils in the dining saloon and duty mess
Attend to port officials and receptions as required
Dining Saloon, Duty Mess and Store Room
Clean the Dining Saloon, Duty Mess and Smoke Rooms daily
Clean conference room when necessary
Wax floor areas, and shampoo the carpet when needed
Clean and maintain fridges and water cooler
Clean ice cube machine weekly
- Store duties
Assist Chief Cook in the proper maintenance, inventory and operation of linen,
pantry and locker stores
Issue sundries and linens to officers and ratings
Ensure linen is properly laundered
Assist in handling stores/provision
Who we are looking for
Minimum of 12 months experience as Steward on ocean going vessels of relevant type/size.
Practical and theoretical knowledge with regards to:
· Operation of catering equipment
· Hygiene
Should have Working knowledge of spoken English.
Certificates compliant to STCW 2010 Manila amendments requirements.
