JOB SUMMARY
Provide highest quality of care to patients with adherence to the standards and scope of nursing practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of BS Nursing. Must be a licensed Nurse. With at least one year experience in general nursing.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS
TECHNICAL/CLINICAL EXPERTISE
Receives the patient from the ward nurse and/or admits walk in patients.
Gathers patient's medical history and performs careful and thorough physical examination on walk in patients.
Prepares the patient for the procedure such as imparting information relevant to the procedure, securing consent, shaving the desired punctured site (Femoral, brachial, radial).
Administer medications as ordered by the physician. In the presence of anesthesiologist assist in the preparation of medications.
Prepares the mayo/back table, instruments and materials necessary for the desired procedure. Sets up the pressure line.
Transfer the patient from the stretcher or wheelchair to the catheterization table.
Position the patient on the catheterization table properly.
Hook the patient to the cardiac monitor & defibrillator.
Provide materials & instruments to the Cardiovascular Fellow & or scrub Nurse as required by the angiographer.
Flushes the patients pressure line as directed by the angiographer/operator.
Records the duration of balloon of inflation and stent deployment and its corresponding atmospheric pressure during coronary angioplasty.
Acts as Scrub Nurse in the absence of the Cardiovascular Fellow/MROD.
Performs manual compression in the absence of Cardiovascular Fellow/MROD.
Apply pressure dressing over the patient's punctured site.
Monitors and records the patient's vital signs. Call the doctor's attention for any abnormalities noted in the patient's vital signs.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Supervise the nursing aid/orderly in proper handling, washing, cleaning and soaking of used instruments.
Instruct and supervise the nursing orderly in autoclaving of instruments.
Supervise the Nursing Aide in the proper filing of patient's files and other pertinent papers.
RECORDING/REPORTING
Encodes the patient's data.
Documents the procedure in the monitor and create a medical record.
Records intra- cardiac pressure.
Sets up the computer for the physician in encoding the result of the procedure.
Encodes the patient's charges.
Facilitate encoding, signing and sending the result of the procedure to the ward and patient.
COLLABORATION
Coordinate and facilitate transfer of patient to the desired area/department.
Attend department staff meeting and other hospital activities as required.
Perform other functions delegated by the superiors.
Participate in the implementation of department's programs and projects.
Strictly enforce the code of discipline by the hospital.
OTHERS
Perform other functions as may be assigned by immediate superior from time to time.
