Position Overview
Dynamic and detail orientated corporate accounting position, requiring an accounting background and an understanding of general ledger accounting coupled with large company business process knowledge. The successful candidate will also possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills and embrace a team-environment.
The position focuses on internal financial reporting and analysis as well as corporate accounting and reports to the Manager, Accounting.
What you'll do at Insight
Efficiently prepare and document journal entries and reconciliations that affect revenue and cost of goods sold and reconciliations relating to balance sheet accounts
Analyzing sales transactions and applying generally accepted accounting principles in order to:
Recognize or defer revenue and cost into the proper period
Record appropriate revenue and cost at a line of business and profit center level.
Assist with accounting for contracts with customers under new revenue recognition standard
Drive the month end close and consolidation process through collaboration and coordination with functional business department owners and corporate accounting personnel.
Applying the principles of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze and describe balance sheet, revenue and cogs fluctuations relating to distinct business departments.
Assist with internal and external audit requests related to responsibilities.
Identify and drive continuous process improvement efforts.
Various ad-hoc analysis and special projects as assigned.
What you'll need to join Insight
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
4 years of experience in corporate / GL accounting function.
Experience of using SAP or other ERP, Advanced excel skills
Strong accounting and analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Ability to identify balance sheet errors and improper or misclassified revenue or cogs activity.
Ability to document the purpose of a given journal entry.
Ability to articulate operating expense fluctuations through written communication.
Experience manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with various organizational levels.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Effectively work in a team-environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline orientated environment.
General knowledge of information technology (networks, operating systems, business applications, web technology, databases).
Advanced MS Excel skills.
CPA, CMA a plus.
Working Knowledge of SAP a plus.
Experience working for a publicly held company a plus.
