Provides analysis and input to derive testing strategy, test planning, execution, and remediation. Performs primary role for projects in formulating and articulating testing approaches and in leading testing strategy review sessions. Works with other teams to ensure accurate and timely communication around and delivery of assigned tasks in order to ensure that end-products will perform as expected upon release to production. Ensures that software defects or issues are documented completely and in a timely fashion to support decision making performed by management and project stakeholders.. Responsibilities Authors test cases for larger computer systems within the scope of a broader defined testing strategy and is typically involved in test strategy development for projects and systems. Authors test cases (both manual and automated) for larger computer systems and complex multi-system integrations and works with other members of the project team to gain necessary input and execute appropriate revisions to ensure accurate and complete software testing activities. Ensures creation of test data to support test case execution and supports creation and maintenance of libraries of reusable test data sets. Executes test cases (both manual and automated) and logs/retests issues found. Performs internal peer reviews of test cases from other Analysts prior to and following execution as required to ensure issues/errors with the test scripts are identified and resolved. Leverages automated testing tools for test planning and management, test case authoring, test case execution and issue/defect tracking. Performs review of deliverables produced by other members of the IT department throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle, for completeness and detail ensuring the specifications are of a high quality and can be used to write test scripts. May participate in technical meetings with Business Analysts and Developers. Reviews requirements specifications for testability and verifying/ensuring traceability of testing to requirements and viceversa. Typically involved in the project-planning phase of a computer system and be required to provide work estimates. Reports status, progress and concerns in a proactive, consistent and accurate manner to senior SVT team members and to the IT Project Manager directly or via Manager. May serve as testing lead for a project. Occasionally mentors junior members in the team. May provide input as to courses of action on some human resources matters, including transfers, hiring, professional development, performance appraisals, and position description preparation Estimates the magnitude and time requirements to complete small tasks such as bug fixes, minor enhancements, etc. Provides accurate and timely updates to test manager and/or team lead on progress Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess fine-tuned analytical skills and be very detail oriented. Ability to deconstruct problems/systems into smaller components organize components as part of larger system. Demonstrate and articulate the application of logical, analytical thought to a testing issues Excellent oral/written interpersonal skills user focused work well with team members. Very strong knowledge/skills around test case creation and test execution ability to create and execute test cases as part of broader testing strategy. Test case creation and execution would be for discreet portions or multiple portions of larger d systems that are complex and may interface with other products. Ability to author and execute test cases (both manual and automated) as well as to assist in authoring test plans and strategies and coordinate testing and testing assignments. Requires minimal technical instructions and guidance with complex tasks. Solid understanding of test automation scripting.
