Position Summary:
This Senior Buyer position supports the New Build Procurement team by managing supplier relationships and completing assigned projects on time, on budget, and within the project's scope. They challenge specifications, commercial practices, operating practices, and business processes to drive cost-effective solutions. We're looking for a candidate with successful experience communicating, planning, sourcing, negotiating, controlling costs, and managing projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Procure goods and services for assigned projects such as newbuilds, dry docks, in-service projects, operational maintenance, etc.
Implement a procurement and negotiation strategy based on price, quality, availability, warranty, project terms, conditions, etc.
Perform moderate to complex price analysis while considering total project cost, timing, and customer needs
Prepare, negotiate, and execute supplier agreements that meet business requirements
Single point of contact for internal customers ensures that products or services are delivered as needed to ensure successful project completion
Lead timely resolution of escalated supplier issues
Maintain commercial interface with suppliers
Guide internal customers during budget preparation, such as product and service pricing
Informed on compliance requirements of regulatory agencies (DNV, IMO, SOLAS, USPH, US Coast Guard, etc.)
Work independently and prioritize tasks based on projects schedules
Learn/work in multiple systems/tools such as JDE, Databases, Microsoft Office, MS Project, etc.
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management
7+ years of experience in Procurement and Project Management
Accreditation from a Supply Chain Industry organization (i.e., CPSM, CPIM)
Strong commercial awareness and negotiating skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Flexibility/adaptability to changing priorities and multiple internal customers
Ability to communicate effectively and work with internal and external customers
Ability to bring teams together to resolve issues and achieve targets and goals
Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement work processes and solutions
Sense of ownership and urgency
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
