As Senior Manager for Finance Operations, they will lead CRR team (approximately 44 FTEs) in Manila in performing and delivering CRR services to Elsevier. They will need to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (Sales, Operations and Finance) to develop strategic plans; initiate and manage change and lead through other leaders. Oversight of the process to minimize the aging of the sales ledgers, maximize the global cash conversion ratio/cash flow and maximize revenue whilst minimizing the risk to Elsevier and ensuring compliancy with SoX and Global Credit Policy. This is a key role in the finance organisation, with significant exposure to senior management across the business. As such, the candidate must bring their domain knowledge and leadership skills to bear. They needs to thrive on identifying opportunities, large and small, to continuously drive improvement and react to the ever changing business landscape they will support.
Interact with all impacted areas of the business, liaising with the various work streams, capturing business requirements and translating them into a Standard Operating Procedure (S.O.P.) Acting as a business partner, working closely with both internal and external customers to provide credit risk advice as well as propose solutions to maximize sales opportunities. Analyze and review credit analysis/recommendations by the Credit Controllers. Enable supervisors to make independent decisions on Credit Limits and payment terms within the agreed authorization levels & justify those recommendations. The CRR Manager is responsible for timely input on monthly reporting and be able to produce ad-hoc reports on portfolio performance for analytical purposes & stakeholder sharing. Drive/work with/involve other Departments to reduce working capital and keep bad debts to an absolute minimum.
Accountabilities
Transition
Take ownership for the successful transition of processes to Manila.
Ensure that the quality of recruitment is in line with expectations and that knowledge transfer and training is achieved within the prescribed timeframes to ensure that the people performing the activities today can be rolled off in line (or in advance) of the business case.
Service Delivery
Manage performance of the Manila team to agreed outcomes.
Together with onshore leaders and the Director of Operations:FAH, agree yearly targets on KPIs and SLAs by clear dashboard reporting ensuring that focus is given the transactions that fall outside the agreed service levels and engendering a 'Right First Time' culture.
Create partnership between the Manila team and the retained organization. Manage and monitor Manila activities including the management of CRR dashboard reporting. Work in close alignment with the local teams in ensuring changes in policies and procedures are implemented in Manila.
Deliver the targets set on cash flow, DSO targets, cash application targets, credit terms, errors and exceptions, customer management, auto match rates, etc. Measure and improve customer satisfaction.
CRR processes and systems compliance
Deliver on savings and drive further process improvements in line with CRR standards to improve efficiency, effectiveness and quality.
Be responsible for compliance to all CRR related procedures such as bad debt policies and other CRR related policies (credit terms, sales conditions, etc.) and ensure CRR processes are SOX compliant
Analyze the CRR process and make recommendations to improve the CRR processes and once agreed drive the implementation of recommended improvements.
Relationship Management
Play a pro-active role towards internal and external relationships. Liaise with sales organization, customer services, senior management, treasury and group finance to agree on SLAs, targets and deliverables.
Liaise with customers and manage customer relations. Manage banks where necessary in close co-operation with RELX Treasury. Manage the relationship of the Global RELX organization.
People Management
Create an environment where skilled people are recruited, motivated and committed to the achievement of the CRR objectives. Ensure that Manila CRR team performs against objectives set within the Manila.
Act as a people manager; coaching and motivating own people as well as participators to projects etc. Monitor execution and results, taking all necessary measures. Appraise people results, select people and stimulate career development.
Optimize Manila Finance performance through stretching goals and direction.
Motivate through high quality performance management including 1:1 coaching.
Be actively involved in the hiring and performance appraisal of the Manila people.
